Supplier Code of Conduct and Purchasing Protocol

Martin & Co., Inc. is committed to responsible timber purchasing and has established a supplier code of conduct that includes monitoring suppliers, risk assessments of species and regions, continuous improvement of sourcing as well as considering opportunities with relevant stakeholders for improving conditions for transparency in the timber trade and sustainable forest management. Suppliers to the company must agree and adhere to our purchasing and disclosure requirements before and during active business engagement with our company.
Supply Chain Monitoring
C.F. Martin & Co., Inc. will perform periodic assessments on all suppliers with the goal of increasing due diligence and reducing the risks of procuring non-conforming products. The assessments will seek to provide the most up to date information regarding the sources of raw materials used in the manufacture of Martin products. The information gathered will allow Martin to make more informed and responsible purchasing decisions.
Timber Legality and Regulatory Compliance
C.F. Martin & Co., Inc. is committed to purchasing all timber from legal sources and will seek, obtain and maintain evidence from suppliers that they are complying with regulatory requirements in the countries where the wood was harvested, manufactured and shipped. Martin will also comply with applicable international agreements and the laws of the United States of America, in particular the Lacey Act. C.F. Martin & Co. steadfastly condemns illegal logging practices and will endeavor to stay informed of international developments and changes in legislation.
C. F. Martin & Co., Inc. supports and directly participates in international efforts to improve forest management through independent certification systems that include third party verification. The company is committed to purchasing increasing volumes of timber products that are independently certified to credible standards for responsible forestry and recognizes and prefers the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®) as the most rigorous of the available forestry standards.
C.F. Martin & Co., Inc. adheres to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) and is committed to sustainable use and the long-term viability of listed species and their habitats that are used in its products.
